Message from the Editor
It was exhilarating-a hundred imaginative and innovative minds exploring new technologies and approaches to classroom teaching. It was the Third Annual Microbiology Education Conference, which immediately preceded the General ASM Meeting in New Orleans in May.

These are the sorts of things that make you believe there is hope for microbiology education, that the old buzzards haven't folded their tents just yet, and that the new kids on the block are swimming with ideas. At the end of a school year, when many of our colleagues are suffering from brain rot, it is particularly welcome to be among inventive educators already planning the next semester. Suffice it to say, I had a ball.

This issue contains a summary of the conference by Spencer Benson, who managed to fit all the square pegs into the square holes. Spencer's article should give you an idea of what went on. I'm not in the habit of dispensing advice, but I'd like to suggest you give this year's conference a try. It's one of those little things that makes your considerable ASM dues worthwhile.

Thanks for listening, and welcome to something new.
