Permissions
The American Society for Microbiology grants the public the nonexclusive rights to copy, distribute, or display MicrobeLibrary Resources (ML) under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license. PERMISSION FOR COMMERCIAL REUSE
Commercial reuse of the MicrobeLibrary resources is granted on an individual basis. To process a request for permission to reuse MicrobeLibrary resources, the ASM requires:
- Information page describing nature of commercial reuse
- Signed license agreement
- Fee
Information Page. All descriptions must include the following information (pdf). Failure to provide this information will delay the approval process.
- Title of Prospective Resource
- URL Address of Prospective Resource
- Commercial or Derivative Use of Prospective Resource
- Audience Type (e.g. educators, students, public, adults, youth)
- Scope (e.g. international, national)
- Language
- Format (e.g. print, electronic-CD, electronic-website, e-book)
- Size (e.g. print run, webpage visitors, unit count)
- Duration (e.g. version, edition, or time period)
- Name of Publisher, Producer, Organization, Agency or Business
- Type of Publication or Production (e.g. education, public service, promotional)
- Type of Business (e.g. for-profit, not-for-profit)
License Agreement. Please read and sign the license agreement form (pdf).
Fee. The fees for each image for single use are:
- $100 not-for-profit organization
- $200 for-profit organization
Only payments in the form of check, money order (made out to ASM) or credit card will be accepted. Purchase orders are not acceptable. ASM Federal ID # 38-1616141.
License agreements are available for a maximum of 2 years for on-line resources and 3 years for print resources.

CITATIONS
The following format is used to cite MicrobeLIbrary resources:
Author’s last name, first name and co-authors’ first initial, last name. Publication date. Title of work. Collection Name. Publisher, City, State. URL. Date of access.

If you do not accept the terms as outlined above, please do not use resources from the MicrobeLibrary. Improper use of materials will result in a loss of access to the MicrobeLibrary.
